2005 Florida Municipal Electric Association Florida Lineman's Competition

Twenty-two linemen teams and seventeen apprentices from Florida's municipal utilities and electric cooperatives were joined by a team from Lafayette Utilities in Lafayette, Louisiana as they demonstrated one of America's most dangerous jobs during the 5th Annual Florida Lineman's Competition.

Designed to promote positive safety training development and a fun and friendly atmosphere for lineworkers to demonstrate their talents, as well as learn new methods for getting the job done safely and efficiently. The event - coordinated by the Florida Municipal Electric Association and hosted by the City of Tallahassee Electric Utility - put the technical and physical skills of utility workers to the test in a crowd-pleasing display of skill and teamwork. More than four hundred spectators gathered at the North Florida Fairgrounds to watch as journeyman teams and apprentices compete in challenges such as the Hurtman Rescue, Wire Down, Rigging Doubles, Crossarm Changeout, and 35 kV bell replacement.
